Magpie Mandala - Canvas PrintFor this one, it was yet another dive off the deep end with Photoshop and some of the aspects from my recent piece, The Magpies. I really liked the Aztec style sun that I drew in the top corner of The Magpies, and wanted to expand it further so a few layer duplications and mirror flippages later, and kaboom Aztec sun explosion! I also dig feathers, and thought that the magpies feather work could use some more love. This piece was created for a poster

and then sewing them together in the negative spaces

When you are hiking into the dunes it seriously feels like you are in the middle of the desert

In high school we used to have soccer tournaments out there

and the colors are super bright and vibrant

and I believe that synergy created something pretty special

They are these giant foot-tall red flowers that grow off of fungus and pine tree roots beneath the surface

There is a view towards the bottom of the trail that is actually pretty average for the many amazing points along the way
