DervisciThe Dervisci tumblers by Michele De Lucchi were inspired by the spinning movement of the turning lathe used to model sheet metal on a die, progressively shaping the object's volume. De Lucchi associates the rotating machine with the dance of whirling dervishes, who reach a state of trance by reciting prayers while continuously spinning round and round, a symbol of planets orbiting.
