Solid Silver Hair Comb Decoration 1905 EdwardianThis is an amazing piece of Edwardian hair jewellery, beautifully hallmarked for Birmingham 1905 and with a maker's mark of GE. It is a large piece at 4. 5 inches long and has two sharp twisted prongs which lead down from an open work mantilla style top in a very Art Nouveau design. It is perfect for a something old or wedding gift and is in sparkling and almost pristine condition. As a vintage or antique item, it will show signs of age and patina.

It is a trick vesta which means you have to have the knack to open it - you have to press down in the right place

The body is beautifully carved and unscrews nicely from near the centre to reveal a nice clean cavity for needles

To the top is a very solid bail and a little push button which opens the case like a pocket watch and easy to attach to a fob or chatelaine

It is probably made from pinchbeck and is in the shape of an arrow

The roof acts as a lid and lifts off fully to reveal the burner cavity inside and there are two holes through the chimneys for the aroma - of course
